Vital Communities List Migration
Background
As described in News/uvlists-and-vital-communities-reach-an-agreement-regarding-transitions-of-upper-valley-lists, I have been working to organize and document the migration process. This page and subpages should contain everything relating to the actual migration of the lists from Vital Communities to UVLists
List Migration Schedule
As we work to migrate lists from Vital Communities, the lists will be moved according to the following schedule
Status means one of the following
- Not Migrated - Migration has not started.
- UVList Signup - Existing Vital Communities subscribers have been notified. New list has been created on lists.uvlists.org, open for subscribing, but not posting.
- Migrated - List has been fully migrated to UVLists, old Vital Communities list is closed, autoresponders notifying posters and subscribers of the move is in place.
- Complete - Old Vital Communities list has been fully closed.

Migration Process
In brief; The process is as described below;
- On the Announcement Date a notice that the list is moving is sent to the existing list, containing details for how to opt-out and the closing date of the existing list (typically 7 calendar days) (Sample Announcement)
- List Administrators will receive a separate announcement with additional steps to take before the closing date (Sample Admin Announcement)
- Existing list subscribers opt-out by unsubscribing from the existing list before the Cutover Date
- On the Cutover Date another notice will be sent to the remaining list members, stating that the list will be closing at the end of the day. (Sample Closing Announcement)
- The existing list will be moved to moderated mode, so no posts will be passed to subscribers. New posts to the existing list will receive an auto-response stating the list has moved and where to find the new list. (Sample Autoresponse)
- Subscribers will be migrated, including list delivery preferences, will be imported. A welcome message containing additional information about the list, moderators and how to get help will be sent. (Sample Welcome Message)
