Statement of Purpose
For the purposes of this list, we’ve defined the “Woodstock Community” as the town of Woodstock – plus the seven towns that share a geographic border with Woodstock. These towns include Barnard, Bridgewater, Hartland, Pomfret, Quechee (only), Reading, and West Windsor. If you are a resident or owner of a business in one of these towns, you are invited to post messages on this list. If you live outside the Woodstock Community as defined above, you are welcome to subscribe, but you are not allowed to post messages on this listserv.

General List Rules
This discussion list operates on the assumption that list postings will be civil and respectful to other list members. No abusive or threatening postings will be allowed. Anyone engaging in abusive language or threats directed toward another list member may have posting privileges revoked.
Because this list is set up for the convenience of the community, occasional announcements from businesses in town are okay-for example, a new business in town, information about a business service offered in conjunction with a public event taking place in town, or a one-time listing about babysitting. No business, small or large, should use the discussion list for frequent repetitive promotion. Posting commercial announcements more often than monthly may annoy your neighbors and bring a warning from the list administrators.
To keep this discussion list useful and dynamic, do not forward verbatim content that has already appeared elsewhere. If an article published on the web is relevant to a discussion on this list, summarize the relevant point and include a link to the source. It is inappropriate to post private correspondence to or from a list member without the express permission of everyone involved.
This discussion list centers on issues and events directly affecting the community. It is not a venue for general announcements about Upper Valley events from people not connected with the town. Occasional posts from neighboring towns are okay, but if an event or item may be relevant to multiple towns, please use an appropriate Upper Valley-wide forum. Subscribers who regularly cross-post to multiple town lists may be warned and eventually suspended.
UVLists reserves the right to warn, suspend, or permanently exclude any subscriber for abuse or infringement of these rules and guidelines. To report abuse or bring a specific issue to UVLists' attention, write to abuse@uvlists.org.
